For the aspiring High School Songwriters and Production Enthusiast 

Intro to Music Technology & Songwriting

This course is required before a student may take any other in music technology. Students will be introduced to Ear Training, the study of music technology, the equipment and programs offered in our lab (including Cakewalk Sonar, Sibelius notation software, and various wave editing sequencing programs).  Students will complete mini projects in each of the programs create a final demo CD to distribute to fans and potential music industry contacts.

  • Create new music using electronic instruments and computers
  • Create your own Remixes and “Mashups”
  • Create Music in many different styles: Rock, Pop, Hip-hop,..
  • Write music for movies
  • Gain experience using professional sound recording technology
  • Learn from other songwriters and become a songwriter with unique style
  • Have the help of performers and musicians to record your songs
  • Record and print your own final demo CD of original music
  • Have your music performed live in two concerts

Three weeks of training for high school students during the summer and workshops also offered during school vacations to learn via hands on the basic tools to songwriting and recording using computers as the virtual recording studio with a performance to be presented to the public.

Bring a bag lunch, plenty of liquid, a notebook, pen and your creativity.
